Did you know that when you worry your face worries too; when you feel pain, your face feels pain too; when you hurt, your face hurts too; when you cry with sadness, your face cries with sadness too? What you feel on the inside is always reflected on the outside through your face. I enjoy saying that our “skin is an emotional organ.” If we want to have flawless skin, we have to feed it with happiness, joy and love. Being happy and having a generally positive attitude towards life – no matter the situation – will inadvertently yield a flawless skin from the inside out.
When I got a pimples breakout in October last year, my initial reaction was to be devastated, worried and sad. How could the proprietor of a cosmetics company have a broken out bumpy face, I constantly asked myself? Little did I know that the more I worried, the more my skin worried and the worse the breakout got. It was only a month later that I decided to change my mind-set. I chose to be happy and have a positive attitude despite my condition. Two months down the road, my face is happily healed with the black spots and scars fading fast.
What lessons did I learn from that period? That being happy and having a positive attitude towards a would-be worrying situation is a choice we make and with that choice our bodies are happy and reflect the happiness within.
Of course in the midst of the choices I made for my skin, I followed a consistent regimen of washing with Livara’s shea butter soap, cleansing my face with lemon and moisturizing with Livara’s Mugisha and Livara’s Chocolate Ruby. I like switching between Mugisha and Chocolate Ruby because Chocolate Ruby has papaya oil which clears the black spots and whereas Mugisha – my skin just craves and loves it! Steaming my face three times a week has also helped my face breathe better, rejuvenate and get silkier. With Livara and a consistent skin care regimen, I have been able to work my skin back to the glow I previously had. However, the positive change started when I decided to change the way I looked at my pimpled up face. I chose to be happy for my face and have a positive attitude for it too.
There’s a story I read somewhere about a young lady who looked at herself in the mirror every morning and greeted herself, “Good morning you beautiful, good looking thing!” The beauty and confidence she had on the inside was always reflected on the outside throughout her day. I adopted her routine for me so every morning when I wake up I look in the mirror and so my greeting goes, “Good morning you beautiful, silky skinned, glowing awesome thing! Your skin looks super amazing today!” Try doing this for yourself today. You will surely enjoy the experience.
So let us not just rely on the outside treatment of our skins. Let us treat and maintain it from within. If your face has some ailments and may not be at the level you need it to be at. Speak to it every day. Speak to it like it is at the level you need it to be. Speak to your face with love. Be happy and have a positive attitude for it. And voila! You shall have flawless skin from the inside out.
