It is undebatable that looking good has a way of boosting one’s self esteem. Right from wearing that fitted outfit that’s trending in your wardrobe, to your amazing hairstyle and then to your face. And since we spend at least 50% of our time at our workplaces, then it is important to look the part. In this article, we bring you 3 easy styles of hair and make up for work! We have chosen 3 skin tones and 3 absolutely different types of styles to show you that it can be done well and easily for anyone!
Our first style centered around creatively packaging the braids to have a fringe and an up do. This is simple and elegant. It keeps the bulk of the braids off your face and also off your back. This definitely curbs sweating when it gets very hot. To achieve the perfect hair and make up for work, we then touched up Gloria’s eyes with a dash of a neutral pink eye shadow and neutral lip gloss.
For the second look, Neema had her natural hair out and wanted a simple bun. In order to create a fuller bun, we added an extension with soft kinky hair. We did not use heat. Neither did we use a blow drier. All this was achieved with Livara’s Sapphire 2in1 Deep Conditioner and Leave in Treatment plus some of our Topaz Hair Gel to hold the edges well.
If you have extra time to prepare, a little bit of foam and then wrapping the hair with a silk cloth for about 10 minutes will achieve the same look. Neema kept her look elegantly simple with neutral, natural browns both in her eye area and on the lips. This particular look of hair and make up for work will definitely give you the boss moves in the boardroom.

Cornrows are definitely a great protective hairstyle and we recommend this for people experiencing hair breakage. Cornrows are also definitely not a long term hairstyle and usually last between one to two weeks. Beyond that, the hair starts popping out especially if no extension was added to firmly grip the hair.
Grace has a beautiful dark skin full of amazing melanin. For her, we decided to spice up her look with a purple-maroon blend of colors. Nothing too popping, everything subtle in application. This look is amazing for a chilled out week at work or for when there’s going to be a lot of upcountry travel with limited access to salons.
Natural hair is fun, versatile and amazing to work with for all occasions. You do not need to relax your hair to achieve any of these looks. It’s all about the right products and a little creativity! So, let’s have fun with our natural hair and make up at work!
